Independent project / An ongoing collection

SideQuest

A growing collection of playful, interactive experiences. A place to turn everyday curiosity, decisions, and small problems into something worth exploring.

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Tailwind CSS / React Flow / Zod

The live SideQuest homepage: Follow your curiosity, with a collection of small experiments below.

The idea

Small questions.
Room to wander.

I wanted a place to explore how everyday curiosity, decisions, and small problems could become playful web experiences. SideQuest gives those ideas a shared home, while leaving each one room for its own personality.

The collection

Three experiences,
one playground.

Different ways to explore. Take a closer look, then follow your curiosity.

Gift Panic

Start with the person, not the present.

Gift Panic recommends a personalized travel memory book, with reasoning and possible ideas.

A playful gift-discovery experience shaped around the details that make someone unique.

Planned

Movie Night

Make choosing part of the fun.

The real Movie Night catalogue entry marked Soon, describing a shared movie choice.

A planned interactive movie-selection experience designed to make choosing what to watch more enjoyable.

Behind the build

The details behind
the detour.

01 / Structure

Separate the idea from the interface.

RabbitHole normalizes structured AI output before rendering it. Graph validation checks node IDs, connection references, and depth so the map has a usable shape.

02 / Interaction

Keep the next step understandable.

RabbitHole pairs a map with field notes and a trail. Gift Panic uses a person-first form and editorial gift directions. Shared site navigation holds the two distinct experiences together.

03 / Recovery

Design for the interrupted journey.

Canceling a request ignores stale responses. An expansion failure keeps the existing graph; Gift Panic offers retry and an explicitly labeled sample instead of silently presenting a fixture as a result.

04 / Verification

Check the connections.

A concept selector offers another way through the graph. Status announcements explain changes; reduced-motion preferences stop cycling loading copy. Tests cover graph expansion and gift-response validation.

What I’m learning

Playful still needs to be clear.

I started SideQuest because I wanted a space to build things that felt a little different. What I've enjoyed most is figuring out how to make playful ideas feel intuitive — from the first interaction to the small details that make an experience feel finished.

Captured from the live app in October 2026. RabbitHole and Gift Panic previews show successful generated results; responses can vary. Movie Night is still a planned experience.
